Each week, PRsay will interview one of the nominees for the 2022 PRSA Board of Directors.

Name: Karen “KC” Crabtree, APR

Location: Seattle

Current job title: Senior Manager, Global Public Relations, Bluetooth SIG

Board nominee position: North Pacific District

Alma mater: Seattle Pacific University, English Literature & Journalism

Number of years as a PRSA member: 8

What strengths do you think you will bring to the Board of Directors?

I’m an energetic senior PR leader with Fortune 100 and technology startup experience. I bring a strategic mindset and approach to the Board, along with my quick wit and focus on inclusivity. I see the big picture and approach everything with a focus on the end goal. It is easy to focus on activities, but I often steer group conversations back to that higher level: “what is the goal?”

I’m excited by the opportunity to build off the momentum the PRSA Board has now and participate in generating new ideas to tackle current issues around diversity, membership and disinformation.

Why did you pursue a position on the Board of Directors?

This industry has given me so much and I’m ready to respond in kind. This is an important time to continue advocacy and support, increase the diversity of our members, help our organizations and focus on DE&I efforts in a meaningful way.

I have insights to share and a unique point of view that will benefit PRSA, but I am who I am because of this profession, so I’m grateful to have the opportunity to give back.

What makes PRSA’s mission powerful for you?

The people! PRSA has been available to me through every stage of my career, and I’ve relied on PRSA professional development throughout the years to stay current and learn new skills. But the connections I’ve made and the people I’ve had the opportunity to know — that’s where it’s at. I’ve met amazing people who have something to share and teach me at every turn.
