Exploring San Francisco during the PRSA 2012 International Conference

Chances are you already know that the 2012 PRSA International Conference, taking place in San Francisco on Oct. 13-16, is the premiere destination for public relations professionals to connect, refresh and learn the latest techniques from some of the most experienced and recognized professionals in our industry. This year is certainly no different, as we have some of the most impressive keynote speakers lined up in our conference history.

If there is one difference this year, I could sum it up in three words—location, location, location! San Francisco is one of the world’s great cities and certainly one of the most amazing in the United States. In fact, Business Week just named it “America’s Best City for 2012”!

What makes this city such a great place? It’s hard to pinpoint just one thing—but a good place to start is with restaurants. From food truck to five star, we have some of the best places to eat at any time, on any budget.

Or maybe it’s the weather? It’s definitely gets foggy, but while other places are cooling off come October, San Francisco is just warming up. Expect sun and warm temps during the conference!

If that’s not enough, there’s the sights. You know about the big ones—the Golden Gate Bridge, the Transamerica Building—but have you been to the amazing Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building? Or jogged along the Embarcadero under the Bay Bridge and around AT&T Park? Even if you’ve been here before, there’s still plenty to discover.

Our Host Committee has put together an Insider’s Guide with some of our favorite things to see, eat and do while you’re in town. Check out our Pinterest page to visualize the entire Conference, from the best sight-seeing locations around San Francisco to details on our host hotel, the Marriott Marquis.

To hold you over until you get here, check out this amazing video of some of the more unique attractions in San Francisco (yes, we really have buffalo)!

Just try not to forget about the conference—it’s the reason you’re here!

  • I would suggest using Latino/a owned businesses to discuss “Demystifying the Hispanic Market.” There are many, many quality advertising and PR firms that focus on this market that are Hispanic-owned.
