$25K of Professional Development, Beaches & a Piggyback Ride (PRSA 2009 International Conference)

Short post this round ’cause our Conference co-chairs, Marisa Vallbona, APR, and Denis Wolcott, do the talking in this delightful video about PRSA’s 2009 International Conference: Delivering Value. Definitely worth the five minutes for it’s sunny beaches and cuteness alone.

Short post this round ’cause our Conference co-chairs, Marisa Vallbona, APR, and Denis Wolcott, do the talking in this delightful video. Definitely worth the five minutes for its sunny beaches and cuteness alone.

Highlights

  1. Announcing Bob Garfield, the Conference’s third keynote speaker. Bob writes for Advertising Age and co-hosts NPR’s “On the Media.” He just published a book arguing that the long-standing, two-way partnership between advertising and content is due for a “violent rejiggering.” Learn more at Bob’s own post to this blog, The Chaos Scenario.
  2. The “big fat bargain” math: 80 possible Conference PD workshops x $250 (average industry price for a session) = $25,000 worth of Conference PD available.
  3. The piggyback ride.

Oh, and if you’re not already watching PRSA’s Twitter account (@prsa) or the Conference-specific account (@prsasandiego09), they’ve been sharing interviews and insights from Conference speakers, including a 15-minute “On the Record… Online” podcast interview with keynoter Todd Buchholz. To be concise, he’s one smart dude. (You can listen directly from the Web page.)
