This month, the PRSA Board of Ethics and Professional Standards, together with the Arthur W. Page Center, is sponsoring survey research with Millennials who are members of PRSA to better understand their readiness to respond to ethical issues presented in the workplace. We need your help.
Please encourage new professionals in your network who are PRSA Associate members or members of the New Professionals Section to reply to the online survey, distributed on Sept. 7. In exchange for their 10-15 minutes, survey participants can opt into a drawing for four $100 gift cards.
The survey will examine Millennial members’:
- Awareness of PRSA’s ethics resources
- Sources of ethics education, training, and information
- Perceptions of their preparedness and ability to provide ethics counsel to clients or employers
- Perceptions of the most pressing ethical issues
We will then compare the results of this survey with our September 2015 study of a sample of PRSA’s general membership (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S036381111530134X)
Finally, this study will also examine the role of mentors, who previously have been identified as influential for younger practitioners as they advance into management positions (Pompper & Adams, 2006; Tam, Dozier, Lauzen & Real, 1995).
While a few demographic questions are included for hypothesis testing, no personal identifying information will be collected through the survey (e.g., name, employer).
PRSA will share the findings of the study with members upon completion of the study and the results will be submitted to an academic conference and journal for publication. In addition, survey participants may contact the PRSA Board of Ethics & Professional Standards to request a summary of the results.
Thank you in advance for supporting PRSA’s Board of Ethics & Professional Standards in our mission to provide ethics education.
