Become a Champion of Diversity During March Madness and Beyond

Last second shots, fan excitement, the media frenzy, team wins and upsets—yes, this is one of my favorite times of the year, professionally and personally.   It’s also one of the most exciting times in college sports.   It’s commonly referred to as March Madness.   The games show us the best talent; the best team spirit; and of course, the best game plans of the season.   It is college basketball at its best.

“Diversity” Media – Yes, this is a real term that folks use in the PR industry. There’s nothing really wrong with the label – per say.  I often find it comical when professionals say that they are having a hard time reaching or connecting with this group on behalf of their clients.

Diversity & Inclusion: Good Common Sense, Corporate Governance & Critical Path to PR’s Long Term Impact

The latest Census data tell us that 37 percent of America’s population is non-white.  At the same time, minority representation across American news rooms and within the public relations profession is said to be around 13 percent.
